Initial Meeting

exceptional craftsmanshipI prefer to hold an initial meeting in the location where your commission will reside. At this meeting I will gather initial design criteria, and we will agree upon the design and materials to be used for your piece. For substantial commission I will require a non-refundable $250 deposit to cover the design process. This deposit will be applied to the cost of your commission.

Two to three weeks after this meeting I will provide you with drawings and a written proposal that is good for 30 days. If you find the proposal acceptable, the next step (if you have not already done so) is to send me a non-refundable $250 deposit. This deposit places you on my work list. Because I usually run a 2 to 3 month back log of orders, the deposit allows me to schedule work and provide clients with more accurate start dates for their work. The deposit amount will be credited toward your down payment.

Pre-Work Arrangements

I will contact you 2 to 4 weeks before I am ready to begin work on your piece. At this time I will require a 50% down payment. This payment allows me to purchase materials and store them in my shop so they can start to acclimate to the shops environment. This 2 to 4 week acclimation period is necessary to ensure wood has stabilized prior to building your piece.

Delivery

When your piece is complete I will contact you to schedule delivery. Upon delivery, payment of the balance due is required.

Pricing

The price varies from commission to commission; and an exact price cannot be calculated until design and material discussions are complete. Please contact me if you would like a ballpark estimate.
